Major refurbishment is underway.
It’s business almost as usual at Lexus Edgware Road as our major refurbishment is underway to give our showroom a fresh new look and create an even more welcoming customer area.
There are a few changes as the refurbishment takes place over the next three months which mainly affects our service customers. We have relocated our service department to nearby Carlisle Road along with our hosts who are there to welcome customers and book their vehicles in for service and repair work.
Don’t worry if you turn up at our main site overlooking the Edgware Road, our greeter and car park attendant Mohammed Samad Abdua or Moe as he is known to us, will direct you to our sister site which is just a few minutes’ drive away.
Our sales team have moved upstairs as work is undertaken on our lower level to bring the showroom in line with latest Lexus corporate standards.
Our general manager Diana Mackinnon has also taken advantage of the refurbishment to redesign the ground floor to create a friendlier and more welcoming layout. It includes moving the customer lounge to its own corner of the showroom rather than ‘hiding’ it behind the reception desk. The reception desk will move forward so there is less of a walk from the doors to the desk as customers first enter the showroom.
The service area will also be redesigned enabling an additional service desk to be incorporated so we can have another service advisor on hand which will mean customers can be seen quicker during our busier times, typically when we first open and vehicles are dropped off for service and again at the end of the day when customers come to collect their cars.
Lexus Edgware Road was, and remains, the UK’s flagship centre for the brand. Configured over two floors, the centre was opened by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in 2008 as part of a spectacular event which included acrobats performing routines dangling from reinforced ribbons suspended from the second floor balcony.
Commented Diana: “As the flagship site for the brand, there was much pomp and ceremony when we first opened and the centre certainly had the wow factor with a car display on two floors, a state-of-the-art customer lounge area and elegant rooms where customers could finalise their vehicle purchases off the second floor showroom. Almost 10 years on and it’s time for us to give the centre some TLC, modernise the layout and refresh its look to ensure we continue to be deserving of our flagship status.
“In that time the car buying process has changed beyond recognition with most of the research and purchase undertaken online yet customers expect a seamless transition from online to in-store. The physical showroom is just as important as ever as customers expect their slick, sophisticated interaction with the brand online to continue seamlessly when they visit us in the centre so our new look showroom will incorporate more digital functionality such as interactive screens where customers can view various vehicle configurations.”
The £300,000 refurbishment is due to be completed in June.
